I have recently turned 18 years old. I thought to myself that the career path i took was not right for me. I just didn't find the work interesting. I was always told to find a job which you are interested in and I now know that I really want to work in a car showroom. I am currently taking driving lessons. And i'm prepared to work hard and do whatever it takes to become a car salesman. I would really appreciate any hints or advice to help me achieve my goal.
Answer:
right -
1. get your cv sorted - make say 20 copies -
2. look in local papers for sales jobs ( inc car sales) then apply -
3. find all local car dealerships within 10 miles- ( futher ideally ) but you need to drive… ( we know that your sorting this ) public transport for now…
4. Give them a call - say who and why you are calling -
find out who makes the decisions based on taking on new staff etc -
5. explain that you would like to pop in and hand over your cv - try to get 1 date when you can do a whole group of them on the same day……
6. suit on hand over cv(s) then await interviews -
they will like your pro active and enthusiastic approach- and you should get a result -
Good Luck !!

Answer:
you should easily be able to achieve this, although your driving licence will help as you will probably be expected to deliver cars to customers and take customers out on test drives.
Sales jobs generally dont pay very well. The basic salary is low, but you get commission depending on the amount of sales you make. This is good if you excel at selling, not so good if your not that type of person. Usually long hours as well.
Sales is not something i would want to do, but good luck with your career choice. you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it.
A good starting point would be to contact local car dealers (send them your CV?).
Answer:
I would make another choice. Car salemen do not last. I've bought some cars and when I went back the salesman was gone. More than once. Plus the pay stinks.
Answer:
It is easy to get a job at a car dealership…if you have the right attitude.
Go in and tell the receptionist that you would like to work for the company. They will give you an application, fill it out completely while you are there…don't take it with you, doing it there and then will so more initiative.
Ask when you can interview, try to talk to someone one the spot but be flexible, offer to wait.
When you meet the manager look them in the eye, firm hand shake and positive attitude. Tell them that you are there to go to work and that your goal is to go into sales. You will do well if you follow this advice. Go to as many dealerships as you have to, someone will give you a chance.
Good luck
Answer:
I need to clear up some misconceptions about car sales.
Yes, there is a lot of turnover in our field. Yes, some of us work long hours. But most of us make good money. I've worked for two different Mercedes Benz dealerships, and work next to a Toyota dealer. All of the sales people are VERY well compensated for what they do. The people who complain about not making enough money in car sales do not work hard enough. Don't get me wrong, you're not going to make $100K overnight. But, if you put your time in, and work for it, there are many car sales people that make well over that per year.
Having said all of that, most dealerships are reluctant to hire someone to sell who is so young. The best course of action for you would be to take any job at a dealership and work your way up. I started out as a lot attendant and did that for a year before I finally broke into sales.
Best of luck to you.
