Help!! My hubby recently bought me a car but the title is in my name. I have a friend who would like to buy it. Is the car legally mine since it's in my name, or since he paid for it and has the receipts saying he bought it, can he say I cannot sell it because it belongs to him; and another problem is: if a car is in your name is it legally yours in a divorce dispute? Thanks!!!!!!!!!
Answer:
if it was a gift then its yours, if you are leaving him then record in a diary that it was given to you , when , why, and if you picked the car or colour, as much as you can, just in case he trys to get it back, if your not leaving him and you think it will upset him by selling, all the best
Answer:
If the car is in your name you can sell it.
Answer:
car belongs to person on title…end of story….who paid is nothing…in divorce most states all owned by bothe belongs to both…sell it quick
Answer:
It is legally yours. Even in a divorce dispute it would be considered as a gift. good luck
Answer:
Exactly. The person's name on the car registration is the person who owns it.
Worse case scenario, if you do sell it, he might be able to get a percentage of the profit you made off it. But this is VERY rare
Answer:
yours until you sell it!
