I’m am looking at a used vehicle. A 01 Chevrolet Cavalier. I live in IL. It says on the dealership web site that they have a Factory Authorized Service Center, does that mean they can do an inspection on the automobile. What would be the “ballpark” cost on an inspection. One of my brothers friends is a vehicle mechanic (works for a automobile company, i think BMW) and i think he could do it. Or my dads friend that is a mechanic and has his own business. Could he do the inspection right there on the dealership lot or would they let him use there garage? Would i be able to take the car from the dealership and drive to a mechanic's garage that’s about 35 miles or 40 minutes away? I am quite sure i can can get a low rate from either my brothers friend or my dads friend, maybe even half of what the dealership would offer.
Answer:
Always get an independent inspection done. The dealer is trying to sell the car, so there shop is not going to give an unbiased view. If the vehicle lot wants to sell the automobile, they’ll let you take it elsewhere for the inspection. If they dont, I would walk away from that dealer and not but a thing from them. A good dealer who believes in there inventory will let you take the vehicle for an inspection. Good luck
Answer:
always independent
they will probably not grant you to use their garage
they will tell you cuz of insurance rules..
a reputable dealer will grant you take the vehicle
off the lot. as long as you show your lic and proof of insurance. you can make a photo copy of both and give it to them, also write on the their that they’re not authorized to investigate your credit history without your written release.
if you have not already removed your social security number from your drivers lic, cover that up. it's the key to identity theft.
