You will get more money in a private sale, but there is work to being successful.

Last summer we sold our Ranger in 10 minutes on Craigslist for $1000 over book. We’d over a dozen detailed pictures, the original window sticker (scanned in), complete maintenance and fuel mileage history, identified with photos every flaw we knew of, and wrote a very detailed description. This all took a few hours to assemble. And you never know how long it will take.

Versus the dealer, no work, and instant closing of the deal.

How much is your time and the hassles worth?

Answer:
Here's the difference. If you sell it to a dealer he’ll offer you less than the Wholesale price for the car. He's going to resell it and needs to make a profit so he's going to offer real low money.

If you sell it yourself you can get just under retail for it.

Depending on the automobile, that price difference could be several thousands of dollars.

It's going to take some time and effort but the money you earn will be well worth it.

Answer:
If you can get what ya want for it as a private deal do it, dealerships only put cash value on the sticker price, so then if you trade it in the price usually jumps depending on how much they give you for your car, and there’s almost always a minimum you can spend for what they give you for your car. No straight across trades there.

Answer:
Depends on whether you want to sell it fast (dealer) or for the most money (private buyer). Dealers only pay you wholesale price because they’ve to sell it again to make a profit.

Answer:
If you can sell it on your own, it's typically better to do so. Dealers won't give you as much as you can get on your own most of the time… and a lot of times, those $2,500 minimum trade-in deals have a massive asterisk next to it.

Answer:
Your ideal bet is selling it on your own.. Dealerships won't even give you kelly blue book on it.. Plus when you sell it on your own you can over price it and negotiate with people and possibly get more than you expected..

Answer:
Sell it on your own. You will make more selling it on the street then trading it in I tried.

Answer:
Sell it on your own. because dealer wount give you much money as you could make on youre own

.

Answer:
I hope this is a joke post, but I'm not sure! Sell it yourself.

Answer:
