The speakers are these

http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9125_Pol…

I am running them of a head unit that only gives out 15rms per speaker, and the polks say they need 60rms.

Is this the problem? Any time I turn up the tunes they start to sound worse than my stock speakers.

Would an amp fix this?

Any brand suggested?

Answer:
Your not giving then enough power.

Polk Audio speakers are built well and built to handle what they say.

Like me, my 6.5" Sony Xplod speakers are 45RMS, but I have them off my 17RMS deck, and they suck dink. They are already dying.

Polk speakers are awesome and you should amp them to full RMS.

Answer:
yea this could definately be the problem. however it could not be too. tyr getting a 50 watt per speaker amp. also make sure you do not have the bass turn up too high
