I have a 800 watt amp pushing 2 rockford fosgate 12" subs. They have worked for over a year. The amp turns on but no sound comes from my subs at all. Is it the amp or the subs?
Answer:
i'd say probably your amp. inspect the speakers and look for anything abnormal in the cone. make sure the wires are completely connected and no breaks anywhere in the line. another thing you can do is reset your amp if you can. unplug it for 5 minutes and plug back in. also if you have your setup in the trunk of you car you might have a little water in there and that could have caused your amp to fail. so overall just inspect the whole thing and maybe to be sure, try replacing the wires that go to your speakers from your amp. you cant go wrong with that, it just eliminates the wire. and make sure you have a solid connection where the wires meet the terminal on the amp. it would be easier to help you if i knew where you had your power source wired from, ie bATTERY fuze box radio harness, ect, hope this helps
Answer:
Check your wiring, something might just be loose
Answer:
get a volt meter, turn on some music, measure the AC volts coming from your speaker wires, if you have voltage, the amp should be okay.
step 2 get a ohm meter, and measure the resistance of your voice coil, if it is not 4 ohms or 2 ohms (or what ever the proper impedance is suppose to be, your sub is blown.
Answer:
I would say it could be either. I would check to see if amp is getting power, if not check the fuses in the amp itself. If it is getting power I would check the wiring starting at the amp and tracing to the subs Book Mark it-> del.icio.us | Reddit | Slashdot | Digg | Facebook | Technorati | Google | StumbleUpon | Window Live | Tailrank | Furl | Netscape | Yahoo | BlinkList
