I dont know where to start but i really need help =\
To begin, the car is a 1999 Acura Integra LS Auto 2DR
I bought it pretty messed up but cleaned it up nice…now the main problem is the wiring…
1. I just put a new head unit in, only the front speakers are working
2. I want to reconnect the wiring on the rear speakers because they’re “new” and shouldnt be burnt out right?
3. How do I know whats pos and whats neg on the speakers? i need to know so i can follow the wires and mark the ground…
4. do i connect the speakers straight to the head unit if i have an amp?
Answer:
Usually the speakers will have a or - sign on the terminals to let you know. but if they don't al you have to do is touch the wires to the terminal to see which way is the right way. that won't damage your speakers, so don't worry about that. But don't do it with the volume up really loud, you just want to test to see if the speakers/wires work, and which way is the right way to connect them.
if you have an amp, then you connect the speakers to the amp. the amp is connected to the headunit, and takes the headunit's music signal and amplifies it for the speakers. if you connect the speakers into the headunit, then what's the point of having an amp?
Answer:
Most factory wiring is color coded. To trace them back from the speaker find the wires they should both be the same color. Generally one of the 2 wires will have a stripe on the wire. This is most often black and represents the negative side.
If you’re running an amp the speaker wire would connect to the amp. Even a factory amp.
