this automobile looks nice to me but just want to know before i buy it….

Ok, let me answer as someone who has actually owned a 147, unlike most of the idiots posting their dross here. The 147 is a great automobile to drive, and not expensive. I've never driven the diesel, but as far as petrol engines go, the 2.0 is a lot better than the 1.6. The 1.6 gets a bit tappety when cold, plus it isn't very swift at all-and it uses nearly as much fuel as the 2.0. The 2.0 is a stonking car, swift and agile, and I promise you that once you get on the country lanes you'll need surgery to remove the grin from your face. I prefer the 5 speed manual version as opposed to the Selespeed semi auto, which is a bit jerky at low speeds-not a good gearbox at all in my opinion. I've had 5 Alfas now and never once has any of them let me down. Ignore the know it alls who state Alfas are unreliable, they are the ideal automobiles on the road for the money. Plus,once you've had an Alfa, you'll always be laughing at the sheep in their Fords & Vauxhalls

Oh oh! Don’t be influenced by the looks. Alfa's in general are nice, sporty, different etc BUT they are nortoriously unreliable. The only sensible way to own an Alfa, which ever model, is if you’re a company automobile driver and the company buys the automobile and pays the bills. Unfortunately most transport managers will be well aware of the Alfa's reputation and would not let you have one.
do yourself a favour - forget it!
This is not just my personal thought, Alfa Romeo IS one of the most unreliable brands you can purchase, if not THE most unreliable. Read the main automobile magazines and consumer associations Reliability tables - wont be hard to find Alfa, just look right down at the bottom of the listings!

Ok, i m always surprized for the irrational antagonism which u english use to speak about ANYTHING of italian… anyway, without these prejudices, i can tell u 147 is a very good car, the bestseller of Alfa Romeo. good engine, wonderful design…
but sincerely, it's an old model, and if i were u i wouldnt buy a 147.
if u want a small vehicle, i d buy the Mi.To, which has… 2 days? 
and it's a wonderful car, of design, engine and all. it's 4,06 meters long.
if u need a larger vehicle, i d wait the 2009, because 147 will end, replaced by 149, the “new”….
so, if u need it now, ok 147.
if u want newer and smaller, MiTo

well my ex has just got the new alfa romeo spider convert and he says its a good vehicle but the petrol goes fast. 20 for not even quater a tank. am not to sure if the 147 would be any diffrent though its a nice automobile to.
