temp sensor has earthed out giving you a false reading…its either faulty of the wire has beared and has toutched earth..

Common fault with TTs, it even made BBCs “Watchdog” programme a while back. You might try a local VW/Audi specialist or a vehicle electrical engineer, if you go to Audi, they'll tell you that you need a complete new instrument cluster for about £600!

Some audis are known to have temp sensor problem. My 2000 Audi A4 (1.8t) has this problem.
You can just change the temp sensor and the problem will go away. I did this. The temp sensor is really cheap (less than $15). You don't even need and hand tools.

not sure of yr..but working at dealership for 12 yrs ( not since '03, babay), but we always gave customer loaner car , or rentals are usually on your insurance.

I had a TT. I don't know how many times the electrics failed but I finally got rid of it after spending £9000 on repairs. It will be an electrical fault, superior take out a second mortgage!

Try cleaning your personal, when it runs hard the computer sucks in dust from the room, and that's what causes it.
