i have a 98 audi a6 quattro 2.8 and it had a bad trans gasket so in order for that to be fixed they’ve to drain the trans fluid out and put new and replace the gasket i also got the trans filter replace to will this change the way my car shifts or will i see any difference? because i heard it can ruin the trans if u change it at high mileage but whatelse was i suppose to do the gasket was bad and i was leakin trans fluid? my vehicle has 100,000miles on it let me know what you think thanks…
Answer:
Thats actually pretty good timing to change the fluid. Audi trans fluid is only good for 100k miles. Nothing should be damaded if they used the correct fluid, and you might notice some better shifting, but nothing massive.
Answer:
Yes, you can ruin the tranny. But if you waited this long to flush tranny, it is already ruined.
You should drain the tranny at pan only (3 - 4 qt) to minimize the impact. Your transmission will shift differently - How? depends on condition of the transmission. I can even start slipping because of the new fluid.
