Stolen Audi tt’s?

Author: admin

does any one know if audi tt's on a 2002 plate are capable of being stolen? a friend of mine has just been questioned by the police following the theft of hers and her insurers are refusing to pay out as apparently they’re unable to be stolen unless the thief has the keys (which she still has)??!!! i have never ever heard of this - the police haven’t pressed charges etc but her insurers have told her that she must prove to them that these can be taken. i dont want a step-by-step guide on how to pinch one - just confirmation that someone has had one taken previously - surely if there was such a thing as an unpinchable vehicle we would all have one?!

Answer:
I've got a TT Roadster and was told by the garage that they can’t be knicked. Always need the key in 'cos the security system constantly interrogates the keys chip (in the black bit) and thereby forms a circuit in the ignition system.

If you were to snap the key bit off the black portion to use just that bit, it will start, but nearly immediately cut out.

Answer:
Hi

This sounds really strange, are the insurance saying no TT has ever been stolen without the owners key? I cannot believe that for a second.

Theives are getting very clever now, some are pre selecting a vehicle to steal, forging log book, driving licence / passport of owner and then traveling to eastern europe coming up with some sob story that they have lost there key while on holiday and gaining a replacement key from the dealer over there, they then return to the UK steal your automobile pack it up in a container and ship out of the country and sell it on.
