i have a 1994 e36 coupe.
my son has somehow trashed both the catches for lifting the seats forward to access the back.
is it simple to remove the seats to mend the mechanisms?
one side, the lever is jammed.
the other, the lever is loose, with nothing connected to it.
any help is appreciated.
thanks.

Answer:
Yes - all of the latches on the outer driver's side, as well as the inner and out latches are repairable. The driver's side connects direct to the recliner mechanism, but the passenger sided connect ot each other then the recliner. Electric seats are a tiny more difficult. If you're mechanical and have the right tools it's not too bad. Pull off the back seat panel (the hard shell plastic panel) to get a look at how the levers and cables operate to get an idea.
