fuse or bulb or light switch. and why is it when i have the brake fuse out the top brake light still comes on? are these seperate? i reaplace bulbs and fuse. it cant be the light switch because the top/third brake light still comes on… whats the deal?

Answer:
gm had a BIG recall on this !! you will need 2 rear bulb circuit boards, replace the bulbs ,too. check a dealer to see if your vehicle still as an open campaign on this….(free)

Answer:
The brake light switch actually has two switches in it. You may still have a bad contact in the brake switch. One part goes directly to the hi brake lamp, and the other has to pass through the turn signal switch on the way to the lower brake lamps. That's why it works with the fuse out. Seperate circut.

Answer:
3rd brake light is wired separate from the other.check for power to the tail lights with a test light with thebrake pedal depressed if no power you have a wiring problem or fuse

Answer:
One of the lights somewhere has a bad ground. And is feeding back through the tail light element in the bulb.

Answer:
thats what u get for buying from GM.

Answer:
I would check a ground wire or a EEC relay in the steering column. That's what happened to my daddy's two fords

Answer:
check 4 power at the conn at the tail light connector the holder is like a circuit board and may need replaced

parts are avail at NAPA

Answer:
You should call your local Chevy dealers service dept. There is a good chance this repair is covered under factory warranty. We have had problems with the lower brake lamp sockets shorting out on the trailblazers.Best of luck.
