My Saxo VTR starts within seconds when it has been left over night, if you turn it off and try and begin it again sometimes itll take ages of turning over to get it to start, its a good minute or so, it then picks up on one, two then chuggs its way back into life! anyone else had this trouble?

Answer:
This is a fault that is often caused by a faulty air temperature sensor.

The sensor could either be giving a false reading, or if it is totally knackered it will give no reading, in which case the ECU will use the default air temp of -40c.

So when cold starting the ecu enrichess the air/fuel mixture slightly more than normal, but it doesn't make much of a difference when starting.

When the engine is hot the ecu still puts the same amount of fuel in, but this is far too much now as the engine is hot, resulting in poor starting.

The air temp sensor is located on the underside of the throttle body, it has a 2 way grey/whiteish connector, i think the new part is around £25 from Citroen.
