i have a 99 ram 5.9 … i was thinking of getting new exhaust..but i was wandering what size exhaust piping to get? i heard not go bigger then 3 inch… but the exhaust i have now i believe is around 2.5 or 2.25.. what’s the best exhaust piping size to get? to make it loud
Answer:
If you run 3'' or higher you’ll lose back-pressure which means the motor is going to fall on its face. I'd run 2.5'' to keep the automobile running right. Just run straight pipes with the cats. What you need to do is cut the stock mufflers off and just run pipes in their place all the way out the back of your truck. It will be loud as crap but still sound good. But I advise that if you decide to run with no mufflers, don't do dump the exhaust, it will sound terrible. You need to run pipes out the back of the truck. That’ll make it sound great. Good luck.
Answer:
You dont want to be THAT loud and attract the local law enforcement to start ticketing you for altered equipment, but if you’ve to have loud just cut yer muffler off and straight pipe it, that'l make it loud.
Typically diesels arent all that loud not as much as gas engines, you should be looking for more performance than noise and for that I state go with 4″ exhaust and a good 5″ cold air intake and some fueling modifications and once you see some of that “untapped” power begin flowing from that Cummins you wont care about “LOUD”!

Answer:
2.5 inch cat back with dynomax muffler and no dual out you’ll lose power, get a cold air intake Book Mark it-> del.icio.us | Reddit | Slashdot | Digg | Facebook | Technorati | Google | StumbleUpon | Window Live | Tailrank | Furl | Netscape | Yahoo | BlinkList
