when I shift to “drive,” it won't go forward right away. So, I step on the gas and the engine races briefly for 2-3 seconds before it will shift into drive. Also, I hear a squeal when I turn my steering wheel. And, if I make a hard turn, I hear a popping sound coming from somewhere near a wheel. Any recommendations?

Answer:
it sounds like you’ve multiple problems with that one, first with the shifting of it you stated it races before it goes in gear that can be caused by it being low on fluid or the valve body is going had in it,or a band not tightening up like it should, the squeal your hearing is just a loose or bad belt on it and the popping sound is probably a bad CV joint in it,take it by a transmission shop and let them test drive it,they wont charge you nothing for doing this and see what they say about it,at least they can give you a hands on thought on what they think may be causing it to do this, you may be having a transmission begin to go out on it,those did give transmission problems, good luck with it.

Answer:
Poor shifting between reverse and drive could be low fluid, or transmission is going bad. Squeal is most likely power steering pump going bad, or low. Popping sound is most likely upper and lower ball joints, but could be something simpler.

Answer:
you maybe low of trans fluid and your belt might need to be replaced ! and it sounds like you might have a bad cvc axle
