I just purchased a new 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab hemi….we’re having great deals here in California, and the price was really good (16K off of MSRP). I have never driven a truck before, and was just wondering what your experience is with the Dodge trucks and the hemi engines. Is there anything I should be especially aware of or watch for?

Answer:
Not that I know of. My dad has a 2007 HEMI 1500 and he cares about it so far. We’ve had other HEMI Ram's in our family and they’ve held up well for us. No mechanical problems. I am on my second HEMI Ram and no problems. Make sure you service every 3-4K miles. I run Mobil1 and don't tow anything so thats the reason I change every 4K miles. If you take good care of the truck, it will take good care of you. My mom purchased a 1997 Ram 1500 brand new back in the day and she still has it with over 250K miles on it. It has been a great truck. But, she changed the oil every 3K and did all of the requested checkups that Dodge called for. I have had great experiences with my Dodge Rams and I hope you do as well! Good Luck.

Yea I miss my 2001 Hemi truck, when I drove it it speed up so fast that it can outrun most cars and trucks even matching corvettes. The thing is it eats up a lot of gas! Once I fill up the tank like $40 (it was in 2002 when gas was like $1.89 damn Bush) drove it to Galveston I stay in Houston and when I came back it was already 1/4 of gas tank! I had it for show but for you it appears you needed for work so I would consider getting a regular V8 standard.

The hemi I trade it for a turbo diesal ram 2500

When I first moved to my current city because of a job offer, my employer was kind enough to rent me one of those trucks to buy furniture.

I only had it for a week, but I enjoyed it; I felt very safe in the automobile. I'd suggest that you stay under the speed limit if you’re carrying furniture and don't make any sharp turns. It's off-road abilities are decent.

Of course, this was back in the day when gas was at $1.50 a gallon

I’ve a 2005 Ram 1500 HEMI 4×4 and have had no problems what so ever. It has enough power to get jobs done and has never left me on the side of the road. Get the oil changed each three thousand miles and it will last you for many years to come. (average mpg for my truck 14-16 mpgs)

Answer:
Ignore the peanut gallery, and the gas, if you care about it and can afford it go for it. I have a 94 and have 160k and I love it. Older rams had tranny problems, but I think they are fine now.

Answer:
yes it is a very good truck and it is tough. just keep it serviced and it will last for many miles and years.

Answer:

Answer:
you bought a good truck ,that one has the mds system on it which will help out a lot with gas mileage,so its going to be a lot superior than the earlier hemi,s was,i think you,ll enjoy it though,i work on a lot of those and most of the people that own them really like them, their a real good truck for pulling power, and if you’ve a need for one that's the truck to own,you got a real good deal on it,keep up with the maintenance on it real close,if you,ll read in the owners manual on how to maintain it,it will help make it last a lot longer, most of my customers that own these don't have any complaints against them other than the gas mileage, and they have to have something to gripe about, good luck with it.
