This is a really close comparison. Acura, which is the highline of Honda, has a credible reputation. They're very reliable, sturdy, cheap to repair, etc etc. The same could be stated about Infiniti, the highline of Nissan. But as far as pure durability, most Infiniti's I have come across tend to have a bit more wear on the interior. For example, peeling seats, worn out steering wheels and all in all cheap plastic parts. A plus for Acura is that a Honda Accord part more than likely would work for a TL. But an Altima part would be off on a G35.
Winner: Acura.
By far the sleeker, sportier, reliable and durable. Massive bang for the buck.

This guy obviously doesn't know what he’s talking about. The Altima uses the same engine as the G35 optionally, the Maxima uses the same engine, the 350Z uses the same engine and is the closest automobile to the G35 as far as everything else goes. I would state Nissan is way better at making its cars modular than any other company. Count how many engine series they've used in the past 20 years. SR, KA, VG, VQ & a few others. Honda has Ds, Bs, Hs, Fs, Ks, etc. Personally I know Nissans superior than Hondas and I can name more Honda engine series than I have the ability to Nissans which tells you that Honda probably has even more than I can remember.
Nissans last just as long as Hondas most of the time. The exceptions being automobiles like the new Sentra SE-Rs which use a french made QR25 or something.

I’ll try to help you from my experiences owning a Honda, Nissan (and currently Infiniti). Keep in mind also that I’m a tuner head so modifying automobiles to enhance performance is a critical issue in my selection of vehicles thus making me automatically bias towards the raw power of Inifinti.
Acura's (parent company is Honda) are the quintessential essence of reliability and durability. Honda is reknown for using interior materials that are durable, long lasting and ideal of all resistant to the elements (such heat and harsh cold). Honda has also a sound reputation for the street tuning scene (thus making them VERY popular vehicles for easy modification). Not to mention that there are hundreds of aftermarket companies available with exterior, interior, and performance mods ready for nearly all Honda automobiles. And Acura is no different being that Honda is its parent company.
Now a problem thats only recently being corrected within Honda (and Acura) deals with power. Honda has always utilized V-tech and low fuel comsumption technologies in their vehicles. But for this price, power and speed were always suffered. Until the last few years, Honda wouldn’t produce a motor for the general public bigger than a V6. (the Acura RL uses a V6 and is price in the league of a starting Lexus LS 430. WTF???)
For instance, what you get for the Acura TSX (4 cylinder 200hp for $32K) one could easily acquire an Infiniti G35 with more fun bang for the buck.) But as of the last few years again, Honda and Acura have made GREAT strides towards injecting sexy, fun, excitement and power into their vehicles. (I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a new Acura TL.) The only downfall for Acuras is that for the past 5 years, Honda/Acuras direction now refocuses on refinement and branches their newer automobiles away from the market that aided in making them a household hame brand… the street tuner scene. Only the Civics, TSX's and S2000 have the ease of being tuned…. the rest require high maintenance modding which is the equivolent to owning a race automobile. Bummer
Now as for Infiniti (parent company Nissan)….. Nissan has always been the performance driven, power hungry vehicle company. Their automobiles for decades have historically dominated the performance sector of the asian import markets. (Especially now with the introduction of the new Nissan GTR that’s really a Skyline). As of the turn of the new Millennium, Nissan cars have had the most horsepower in virtually all classes they are competing within. This also makes nearly all Nissan products from the past to the present tuner friendly (with just as many aftermarket tuner companies with readily available parts). not to mention they’re more exhilarating to drive. (their motors exhaust note just aches for you to punch it.)
However, as one user here noted however, Nissan has only the past few years become synomous with durability. Through the 70's, 80's and 90's, Nissan automobiles (EXPEICALLY INFINITI's) were not known for using the best materials inside the vehicle (most of their money goes into R&D for performance). Yet as of 2002, Nissan has undergone a major overhaul after 40% of their stock was bought by Renault (current CEO is the infamous Carlos Ghosn). Under his watchful eyes, Nissan has become a more refined car company altogether. This has especially been good for Infiniti as from this, the Infiniti brand is now all RWD and AWD with emphasis placed on premium luxury and performance. (you can call Infiniti BMW's worse nightmare coming to life).
From this info, Its safe to say that as post 2003, if you’re looking for a automobile that’s fun to drive, sexy, potent, retains value, and best of all, makes you the envy of your friends… then you can't go wrong with an Acura or Infiniti. If you seek refinement, luxury, style, and peepy power, the look towards Acura. If you are seeking luxury, style, performance, and brute strengths, then look to the never ending distance of Infiniti
Hope this helps.
