The jeep heats up suddenly eventhough i couldn’t find any leak. yesterday the same happened and while i was filling more coolant a guy passing by said that the water is brown coz your radiater is too rusted. could this be the problem and if yes what could be a good solution.

Answer:
Could be one of several problems. A 2001 radiator should not be 'rusted' as you depict. Are you running coolant in there or just water? If just water, then you need to change to a coolant mix which should inhibit some of the oxidation.

Regarding the swift heat up, to me that sounds like a bad thermostat, probably the original one is sticking closed. Check that one out first, as it is an easy fix. Most 4.0 / Straight 6 jeep wranglers should run about 200 degrees but your thermostat would determine that (i.e. you could install a 180, etc.).

If you’re planning on keeping your jeep, might I suggest a full “radiator flush” to ensure that you've cleaned it out and tried to flush out anything that could be an issue? Again, I'm thinking it is the thermostat b/c if the water pump was bad, you would most likely see some 'issues' where the fan bet was rubbing / pump not turning or some water leaks, i.e. a catastrophic failure. Short of that, I'm thinking thermostat.

Good Luck

Answer:
you could drain it from a plug on the bottom if need to if no leak though i would check the fan could be not working
