Windshield HELP!!!!?

Author: admin

I drive a 2004 jeep Wrangler unlimited.

This day, a dump truck cut me off and a stone flew off and left a golf ball sized crack in it =(

I'm 18 and I told my parents about it. They are just pissed because it sped away and I didn't see the name on it so I’ve to pay for it.

There’s insurance on it, but my question is, How much is this going to cost me about???

Any idea will help me.

Serious answers only please

Answer:
I don't know how the laws in your say work, but where I live in Massachusetts, no matter what, it is fully covered by insurance and it doesn't cost you a thing. That's the ONLY good thing about Massachusetts, the rest of the stuff sucks! But hopefully it's fully covered where you live too!

Answer:
Generally, the comprehensive insurance will cover it, after your deductable, to replace the windshield, but if it is repairable, they’ll pay the repair cost and waive the deductable. The caveat here is that 1) it CAN be repaired, that’s if the crack is small enough that the repair shop certifies that the repair is safe. and 2) it is legally allowable for such fixes in the say where this vehicle is registered.

Answer:
Depending on what state you live in the dump truck operator might not even be liable (in California state law protects them from liability from broken windshields) so depending on where you live it might not even have mattered if you got the info,

Windshields aren't that pricey, again, depending on where you live. In my area I have the ability to get a new windshield in a Wrangler for $99 installed. Shop around and check prices, generally the smaller independent shops will beat the prices of the bigger auto/home/commercial glass dealers.

As for insurance. it depends on the policy. There’s usually a deductible cost (you pay the first X$ amount of the cost and insurance pays the rest) that can range from 0 to as much as $1000 or more. Then of course there is the possibility of an increase in monthly premiums depending on the insurance carrier.

Sometimes it's cheaper to just get it done yourself and avoid insurance, just depends on your circumstances/policy.

Check some of the local auto parts stores and garages, they can usually give yo a good lead for windshield replacement. Check with a local Jeep club or if there;s an area in town where there are auto salvage yards check there. Just be sure you're getting a new windshield and if you want a new seal purchase it yourself and take it with you, it'll save you come money in the end.

And tell the parents to chill, at least you're safe and well, it could have been worse and you stood up and took responsibility. The parents should be proud of you, sounds like you've done the right thing so far…

Answer:
If you have insurance then all you’ll have to pay is the deductible… this us ally for windshields is around $50 to $100 if you go threw the insurance company….

If you go on your own and take it to a glass shop like Safelight ext.. probably be around $300

Here is a cool website that’ll give you the exact cost in your area and the names of auto glass companies…

Answer:
if you’ve full coverage then you have glass breakage and it shouldn't affect your insurance because it is considered act of god like a dear hitting you i know this because i have had 3 replaced the same way from rocks hitting my windshield
