Price wise both are nearly the same but two issues
resale value - if you would eventually sell your vehicle to upgrade to a higher model alto has good resale value . check carwale site to see value of used alto automobiles. whereas spark being a relatively new automobile seems to have very less sellers . also spark is the same version of matiz from daewoo which is now sold to cheverlet.
parts and service - spark claims to have lesser maintenance than alto . you can see company comparision on their site . but service centers are limited . Alto maruti has high number of service centers . but i might decide on spark as the looks are special and not much people have it now but numbers are growing .

to be honest both of these cars belong to different segments
alto is the first choice for beginners in the 4 wheel automobiles
has better mileage and well built for its price
zen is a bit pricey than alto but stands tall in its sales segment.
i prefer zen as its more comfortable and better ride than alto.

now this time alto is better if you consider old zen then zen is much better if you have some time than wait for some months alto a-star will be launch between 1or2 months and brochure of a-star tells us that it is great automobile and if you need to buy a automobile urgently than go for a tata indica vista it lunched in three varients .
