Gas kit for maruti 800?

Author: admin

Can i get my maruti 800 fitted with a gas kit is it worth.

Answer:
The answer to this question depends mainly on two factors:

How many kilometers do you drive on a monthly basis?

How old is the car? ( Market Value of your car)

CNG Kit:

Kit installation Costs about Rs 35,000, running cost goes down to about Re. 1 per km.

Downside is waiting times at CNG stations.

Engine life isn’t affected, my WagonR has done 1 lakh kms on CNG and I am now getting CNG installed in a new quick petrol.

I'd recommend you get it if you drive over 1000kms a month and are planning to keep the vehicle for a minimum of 2 years. Or else you wouldn't really gain from it.

If your 800 has an a/c, your car will feel severely underpowered running on LPG/ CNG and trying to use the AC. Even Zen, Santro,WagonR etc feel slightly underpowered with AC on while running on CNG.

LPG:

Cheaper to install, slightly higher running cost.

Even harder to get auto LPG as pumps are very few

Some people transfer gas from domestic cylinders to car cylinders - that’s a crime and domestic LPG harms the engine severely.

Also consider the current value of your vehicle, would it be ok to invest another 35000 in terms of resale value? If your automobile is newer than 2002 it should be ok.

Answer:
Ya it can be fitted with LPG or CNG.

But remember that, there’s some decresing in engine power after fitting the gas kit, Maruti 800 is equiped with engine capacity of 800 CC only, So after fitting the gas kit u got less pickup and power from the engine.
