Why -
Alto — Maruti automobile with good resale and good mileage no doubt but there are lot of negatives.
1. It has very low ground clearance and the ride is bumpy
2. Looks are dated
3. Maruti cars are not known for their strong body, also after state 2-3 years or some 20000 kms you would find lots of sounds coming from the vehicle. Leave aside Alto even Swifts are know for that.
4. Gear shifts are not that good, it vibrates a lot too.
5. It is underpowered
Maruti Zen - It WAS an awesome vehicle but outdated now, you can get only a 2nd hand car
Chevrolet Spark - Its good car & VFM but without any resale value. The space is less too. Also I do not like the console(speedo) at the center of the dashboard.
So what are we left with the friendly Santro! The highest model for santro comes at 4 Lakhs on-road!
If you can shell out some 30K more can go for i10 iRDE too, its an awesome automobile even superior than Santro.

It depends. Alto is a bare minimum vehicle and is a souped up model of good old 800. Its strengths are good mileage,good resale value and lower maintenance. Purchase it only if you are on a tight budget.Zen is a nice automobile and also has all maruti strengths like lower maintenance, good service backup and decent mileage. But Spark is the king of this group. it has excellent mileage, good ride quality,superb warranty package,better space and cute cheeky looks. but sadly resale value is not its plus point. so if you are looking for a good,reliable,comfortable automobile and if you are planning to keep it for sometime, this is the vehicle to go for…
