the only way you would get 3000 to 5000 on that car its if that car was a gsl-se and it had under 100k but the gsl se was only made in 83-85 so i think that the car is worth probably 2000 to 2500 and if you wanna let it go take 1800 for it

I've got an 82 RX-7, and it depends on a couple things. If you've got a GSL (identifiable by rear disc brakes and LSD) it's a bit more desirable.
I see them go usually anywhere from $1500 to $3000. Depends completely on condition and finding the right buyer. 
I paid $2200 for mine.
