Alright so I've come to the conclusion of buying a Mazda Rx8. Sadly, I can’t afford one brand new so, I'm wondering if the Rx8s really changed at all from year to year. Did any years prove to be more problematic than others? I realize all the common problems with any Rx8 but I'm trying to find if any year is better than another. I'm thinking I’ll probably purchase a 04 - 06 with less than 30k miles and a clean history. Thank you for your help.

Answer:
No, they didn’t change from year to year.

But the 2009 RX-8 has a new look, but the same engine and suspension.

The Manual transmission RX-8's are more reliable because Rotary engines last longer if you rev high and it is easier to rev with a manual tranmission. It is also more fuel efficient and much faster than Automatic.

Just letting you know, you should learn more about how to take care of rotary engines and maintain them. Make sure you get the owners manual. For example, it only takes 5w-20 regular oil. Not Synthetic or high mileage or 5w-30 or 10w oils.

And you need to drive it every day. If you leave it off for 1.5 days, it might not begin th next time you drive it because the engine will need to be decompressed because you need to rev the engine to keep the oil from thickening.

Answer:
engine outputs are different
