I have a 2006 mazda RX8 and I know that the K&N kit adds close to 10 hp, I've been trying to find the hp gain on the AEM kit, but I've had no luck so far. Does anybody now the hp gain with the AEM cold air intake kit?

Even though the manufacturers like to state great HP gains, those numbers are seldom reached. This is why they advertise “Up to XX HP gained” They could state “up to 100 HP gained” and as long as there is a 1 HP gain they can't be sued for false advertising because the stated “up to”.
In most vehicles you’ll see gains around 8-10 HP, but not on the RX8. Mazda did a very good job of getting just about everything it could from the motor. Both the intake and exhaust on the RX8 are very good and well tuned.
User performed dyno tests have proven that the ideal of the aftermarket intakes only free up 3 - 4 HP at the wheels. Poorly made ones actually lose HP. The MazdaSpeed intake is modelled directly from the (and probably even made by) AEM units and are good quality.
Exhaust systems show the same. Good production units show 4 - 6 HP gains, while garbage ones lose power.

Sorry to blow your bubble but you do NOT get 10 HP from any cold air intake. Those are figures AFTER you put in header pipes, cat back, etc. (and at best).
The cold air intakes are all about the same. It isn't that they’re engineered great. No, it is that the factory air box is so restrictive due to noise restriction. The cold air intakes are mostly just big diameter pipes.

I’ve cheapy short air intake and cheapy header pipes. And the combo makes noticeable boost in acceleration.
Also, cold air intakes are designed for the track. You can do serious engine damage when you suck in air (due to the fact that the filters are so low to the ground).

Cold Air Intakes add 15-25HP in non turbo cars.
Short Ram Intakes usually add 8-15HP.
Cold Air Intakes need the filters replaced more often than Short Ram. Short Ram and Cold Air Intakes are the same price.

it doesnt matter what you get, ****, i got mine from ebay and theres nothing wrong with it.
just get what you think is cooler looking. they’ll both get roughly the same hp gain
