I am looking to make my protege very quick, and need some advice on what to swap it out with and any other perks that would be good. Money is no problem, got plenty of it.

A - Give your automobile to professional modders and let them deal with that.
B - Sell your car and buy a Mazdaspeed 3. 250 HP for about $25K. Factory vehicle will be superior and more reliable than a home-project mod.

HMM, well if money is no object use a rotary engine and swap it to RWD! In all seriousness, I think, if you want serious power you have three options:
1. Put in the same engine type that it came with and turbocharge/supercharge it.
2. Swap in a Mazdaspeed engine…
3. Be daring, go for lighness and put in a 1.8L Miata engine from around the same year. That engine has so many possibilities and support groups that you couldn't go wrong with it, not to mention its turbo-friendlyness.
