theres a rx7 for sale on my street i always wanted it and it finally went on sale ,,,,and it has 112,000km;s original km's on the stock engine , no mods,other than cat back exhaust,,,,,the automobile look preety nice its a convertible ,,,,,and the paint looks nice but seems kinda dull cuz the paints still original no rust or anything,,,,the guy took me for a drive in it,,,,it was preety fast,,,,,the engine was roaring nicely……..he's charging around 3500$ for it,,,,,and says he's selling it cuz he needs some garage space cuz they have like 3 cars and a suv and said the rx7 was mostly in storage and he use's it sometimes and states he takes care of it,,,,i dont know if i should get it i really want it but i dont want it to enjoy break up once i get it ,,,,and the guy said he does all the maintance has a proper mechanic for it and ,,,,oddly he stated he uses syntehic oil,,,,and from what i heard syntheic is apparently bad for rotatry engines so i dont know if ishould waste my parents 3500$ on this car just cuz i really like it,,,,i dont wanna let my parents down ,,,,,,,,what do u recommend

Buying a used rotary can be a hit or miss situation, but naturally-aspirated rotary's usually last much longer than a turbo engine.

Also, there are some synthetic oils that are specially designed for rotary engines (Royal Purple, for example) but they can be hard to find.

Take the vehicle to a rotary specialist shop to have it checked out and find out which mechanic has been servicing the car. If he is a good guy keep taking it to him as he already knows this vehicle,

RX-7's are kind hot or cold.

Some drivers get them and run them into the ground.

While others take care of them and they last forever.

But for a first car, I wouldn't. This is why- how are you going to feel when you total it?

If you're an aggressive driver, anticipate it to be “scrap metal” in about 1-3 years. If you're not, might last upto 4 - 6 years or more.
