I have a mazda 626 its a 1993 model and when i come up to a corner and its wet i go to apply the handbreak so i can slide the automobile ( this is on a track) and it just slows down a little but does not slide out the back ….. What’s wrong or is it ment to be like this .. if it is can i get it changed please help

you’ve probably strecthed you brake cable and it's not locking the rear wheels. There’s an adjustment on the handle as well as under the vehicle to tighten it up.

your handbrake is really only made for holding the car, not stopping the spinning wheels. i know that with falcons they’ve a handbrake brake which is a small drum, this is only made for holding the vehicle not for pulling it up. it can stuff the drum on them if you do use it to pull up with it. the Mazda's might be different though, but you’ve prob stretched the cable like the other bloke said.

adjust the rear break shoes but what you want is hard to make in a FF car
swith to FR is more easy to slide… thats call drift
