Answer:
Mazda 3 is the best beginner's car.
It handles sharper than any other car at the same class.
It turns more accurately; it change lanes faster, and it has very sensative brakes.
You can get one under $20k if you don't go fully loaded. I mean, why would you go leather on an economy car anyway?
Good fuel econ: because it is more powerful than the Civic or Corolla, it uses a little more gas.
Co-signing with your dad is a good idea if he's a good driver.

mazda is one the best Japanese car makers - but so is toyota.
If you have a Mazda 3 'staring' at you - at a fair price - yes, a very good first car.

if you are a beginner, my advice to you is to start out with a used car so that if something heppens to it it wont be a big deal like that same thing happening to a brand new car…….after a couple months of practicing and getting to know the streets better also where the trakkic pours then you would buy a new car and know aproxemitely how much it will cost you and how much gas it takes up from your previous experience……..good luck
Answer:
Yes, a new 3 is a good car for you if you are 19 and consider yourself a good driver.
Being 19, a brand new car is going to be a little more expensive to insure. It is going to save you money to get on your Dad's insurance, assuming that your Dad has a respectable driving record. Granted, it still will not be 'cheap', but it will be cheaper.
We have a 2007 i Touring 2.0 and we average 29mpg, overall (about 375 miles per 13 gallon tank).
If you get the 2.3 Liter sport model, the mileage will be a little worse, and the insurance would likely be slightly higher.
The cost of the car varies greatly, depending on the model you get. For you, I would recommend either the i-sport (base model), or the i-Touring (next higher model).
Whatever you do, make sure the Side Air bags/Anti-lock brake option package is on the car you choose. This option is under $300 and well worth it for your safety and insurance. In addition, Consumer reports says that withough the side airbags, the crash test is very poor.
We live in the Chicago area. In June, 2007, we bought a 2007 Mazda 3 i-touring with 6-disc CD/Sunroof package, Side Air bags/Anti lock brake package, and Auto-dimming mirror/compass for $20,300 out the door (including taxes, title, license, etc).

I ordered Mazda 3 (1.6 liter automatic, European model) without a test drive and didn't regret it once.
It has the best chassis in it's class so the stability's great in any drivng conditions. As a novice driver, even if you make a mistake you'd be able to correct it because the car is very forgiving.
Mazda 3 is very comfortable, I use it often for long journeys and it doesn't give any backaches or anything.
As far as I know, anti-lock brakes are standard accross all trim levels in the USA and Canada (especially important for braking in slippery conditions or in emergency). For even better safety you should opt for those trim levels (one above a basic one in the US) that have traction control (TCS) and dynamic stability control (DSC) fitted as standard. That makes the car even safer. TCS is great help in snow.
P.S. Between myself, my brother and father, we had 5 Mazdas since 1998. Their combined mileage is more than 500 thousand miles. Nothing ever broke down or stopped working.

I had a Mazda 3s sedan for awhile, and loved it! I averaged around 32 mpg with it, and it was quite peppy for a 2.3 engine. Insurance for me was very cheap, but I'm 27 with a clean driving record. If you have a good driving record it shouldn't be too bad.The cost of the car will vary by dealership. I'd suggest going to autotrader.com and looking at some in your area.
Answer:
If you are rich and can afford a Mazda 3, then yes, it is a good car.
It is Mazda's most reliable car and it is the best handling car in its class. It also looks the most expensive and fastest in its class.
Insurance will cost around $1350-1600 every 6 months.
It competes with Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Lancer, VW Rabbit/Golf, Chevy Cobalt, and Ford Focus.

I have a Mazda 3 that I bought brand new. I got the Grand Touring…so the really nice one…and it cost me like $22,000. I have 40,000 miles so far and love it. There are some features on it that I would warn others about though….. 1) if you get the 17" wheels…just know that you will have to get new tires in about 25,000 miles and they are EXPENSIVE 2) If you get the pearl paint color it costs a lot of money to have any body work done 3) insurance is not the cheapest for it. http://www.car-insurance-guide.us/rates_…
This site gives you some tips too.

The Mazda 3 is an outstanding car! I have an '07 touring model with the five speed manual transmission and the 2.0 engine. I average 27mpg with mine which because of the stick I tend to drive it a little faster than my past cars.
I only had a couple little blips when I bought it. The coolant fan had to be replaced and something with the a/c and heat had to be connected. Both of those were under the warranty and showed up right when I bought the car and I have had no problems 20,000 miles later.
The 3 is a great performing car. Put it on the line against the base model civic and corrola and the mazda will beat them anyday. The ride is smooth and it handles very well. Only problem with the first generation of 3's was road noise. At interstate speeds there is a louder than normal wind and tire noise but Mazda has promised to fix that in the '08 redisign.
When price is a factor the 3 outperforms again. Just go into any Honda or Toyota dealer and look at a comparably featured car and you will see. I bought my touring model brand new for $16,500 in Jacksonville, Fl. One thing I would advise you on is definately get the i-Touring. It has the power windows, power locks with keyless entry and 16" alloy wheels but pay a little extra and get the abs side curtain airbags package. I am not sure why but they do not come standard with abs and I didn't realize that until after I bought it. I wish I would have paid the extra price. It will save you on the insurance if you have the airbags and abs. Also another thing to be aware of they come with speed rated tires which is a higher classed better performing tire that is more expensive to replace. From what I have heard most people get around 30,000 miles out of the Toyo's before having to be replaced so that will be an extra expence in a couple years.
All of that being said look in any consumer reports auto magazine and you will see the reliability is right there with the civic and corrola. The price is cheaper than the the Honda and Toyata and the performance is better. I love my 3 and the only time I am planning on selling it is when Mazda starts selling there diesel 3 here in the states.
Good luck with car shopping. Hope you go with the 3.
