I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis and every morning I have a problem starting it. I have to spray it with starter fluid every morning to get it started. I have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, air flow regulator, and put in a new battery. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Answer:
spray probly wrecked air flow sensor…real ques is why all the fuel parts,,,,,ever tune it up…plugs wires, cap, rotor if equiped,,,

Answer:
i think pedro is close and maybe have your distribator cap or unit checked i had that problem before

Answer:
Try this, when going to start it, trun the key to the "on" position and hold it there for 10 to 15 seconds before turing it to "start". You have an electric fuel pump on your car, and it's possible that the check valve that keeps fuel near the engine has failed. The fuel then would flow or "drain" back towards the tank after sitting for a while. It would then be hard to start. Putting it in the "on" position for a whiel first should build pressur in the system and hopefully get the fuel back up to the engine. It's worth a try, and doesn't cost anything.

Answer:
James is right..seen a few of those fuel pressure regulators for the fuel pump fail (it's on the rail) and either cause hard start or fuel foul and causes a misfire

No distributor to worry about… the starting fluid will destroy the engine if not careful.. but that shows it's a fuel related issue

Answer:
How about a fuel pressure regulator.

Answer:
Make sure the idle control sol. isn't stuck, other than that, check fuel pressure, might be fuel pressure regulator stuck open

Answer:
if the car runs okay and starts okay all other times then forget all that stuff people are telling you because all those things would effect it all the time not just in the morning. There is a air flow valve that works just like the old butterfly flaps in the carburetors it is not closing all the way as it should which would only effect cold morning starts. I am not sure the exact name of what they call it but i believe that is your problem.
