I am wondering where it came from and how to put it back in. It has a torq bit head on it. Probably around a t30. i took of the lower column cover a can't find anything. I can't take the top part of because the big black thing where you put the key in is blocking that.

Also and the most important part is the face that now it is VERY difficult to get the car into gear. The shifter has a ton of play in it.

Any help would be awesome. Thanks for looking.

Answer:
no the bolt is one of two that hold the shifter cable bracket to the shifter arm.. it is hard to see but you get get it from the bottom. wiggle the shifter while looking under the dash and you should see where it goes

Answer:
That bolt is one of FOUR shifter tube bolts. What you need to do, is turn the ignition key to the RUN position (the position the key is in, when the engine is running). With a straight pick, depress the ignition lock cylinder detent through the hole on the bottom side of the ignition lock cylinder. While depressing the detent, pull the lock cylinder and key OUTWARD to remove it. Remove the lower instrument plastic panel and metal panel for access to the four nuts that secure the steering column assembly to the body. Remove those four nuts, in order to enable upper column plastic half removal. Be careful not the pull too hard on the white “PRNDL” cable when you lower the column. Follow the shifter handle to the tube where there should four of those bolts you describe. While you have it apart, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the plastic shifter tube bushings, and the tube parts if necessary. Hope this helps.
