No, it's the bottom of the Eclipse line and has the 420a Neon motor. The 420a has a bad head gasket design and they all leak and need the updated head gasket installed. Look on the drivers side of the motor in the back towards the firewall. It's best to look under the car. If there is oil on the motor or dripping from above it's a bad head gasket for sure.

If you don't want to look for a real Eclipse with a Mitsubishi motor and transmission, some people don't mind the RS or GS Eclipse with the 420a motor. The GTS and GSX models are the best way to go.

They are good cars. I've had mine for 13 years and it still runs great. Mine's a GS but they have basically the same engine. The RS and the GS have the Chrysler built 420a engine, same as that in the Neon. It puts out 140 hp and runs from 0-60 in 9.2 seconds. Not very fast, but it looks fast. You have to modify the engine to go fast. If you're not into that, it's still okay. The Eclipse 95-99 has a better looking body than the Eclipses after that. Mitsubishi makes good cars and engines but it's just marred when they partnered with Chrysler. Now that they are free from Chrysler, they had actually made better cars.
