I have a 2001 nissan altima. It squeaks when I drive, it sounds care about it is coming from the front tires. I didn't know if this could be my hubcaps??? I have never had any problems with the automobile. The only thing that I’ve done is brakes and new tires. Any ideas on what this could be and how much to mend it??? Thanks!!!!!
Answer:
I think you have already guessed it. These vehicles had hubcap issues. They tend to squeak over time. Just take the hubcaps off and drive it to see if that repairs it. Pretty sure it's not the brakes because you stated it happened before you had the brakes done.
Answer:
It depends how old your brakes are. If they are fairly new, and a skilled technician installed them, then its not the brakes. My guess would be hub bearings or wheel bearings, because they make a screeching noise when the wheel is turning.
It's not cheap to replace hub bearings, but it's superior than having your wheel lock up, or having other parts suffer damage because of it.
Answer:
nissans have what’s called a backing plate which is behind the rotor. the metal is thin. it is very common when during a brake job that it gets bent a little inward and is just touching the rotor. everytime you move it has a high squeel to it. the backing plate prob needs to be bent back a tiny. this can be done with a flat tip screwdriver.
Answer:
it could either be your breaks (depends on if they where put on right or if you had had them on a while) Possibly your rotor has a rock in it. Or maby a barren in your wheel might be going out. I would have it looked at by a Nissan certifed mechanic. I dont think any of thoes things are that expsensive, but if you dont have it fixed it will cost you a lot more….. good luck
Answer:
when you drive or when youre stopping?
it sounds like bad brake pads, thats not too high-priced unless it gets so bad that you grind the rotors which are pricey
Answer:
ill give you 2 options, it will be 1 of those 2
bad struts or k-frame body mounts
Answer:
It could be your brakes pads touching your rotors, or needs front end lube.
Answer:
air in tires
Answer:
could be your brakes,axels,or shocks
i doubt it'll cost much
