Answer:
Franky get the timing belt done. Replace three coolant hoses replace the tensioner and any idler pulleys that feel rough. Remove the radatior clean out debris replace the fan belts install a new water pump and Thremostat add new coolant. Most 1990's have much more miles than yours. Timing belts age and crack. Please replace each 5 years. I bet you'll feel better and your wallett won't weigh you down so much.

No. It is near breaking.

There are 4 most important maintenance items in your engine and tranny (the most expensive parts of the car).
(1) engine oil (3k - 5K miles)
(2) tranny oil (30K miles)
(3) coolant (3 years)
(4) timing belt (60K miles)
Just keep those maintenance and your engine and tranny will be problem free. I have a 94 Civic with 187K miles and the engine tranny suspension runs like new. I get 41 MPG (doing 72 MPH). I have the ability to get even superior MPG doing 55.
Good maintenance pays off.
Good Luck….
Answer:
If you know you have 60k on it and haven't changed it , then purchase nissan maint sched, it should be changed along with the cam seals, water pump, thermostat. If you don't do the work yourself, its cheaper to buy the parts from local parts place and then take to a mech to do the work. If I have some one else do the work, I also ask for the parts they pulled. (that just me) Each mech will recommend changing everything because you have to remove it all anyway to get to timing belt, so there’s no extra charge except for parts. It will cost anywhere from 300- 500 plus parts depending on what they charge per hour. Heres how do it if your want to tackle it yourself.

Answer:
At 60K the water pump and timing belt at least should be changed.
Don't forget to check wires, spark plugs, the fuel filter, the air filter, etc. cause most of it is going to need to be replaced as well.
