my friend put 5k down on 08 gtr/ 4/o8 at dealer.he concurred to pay extra 15k at delivery to dealer (91k) (70k list price dealer greed factor of 15k) He will put full cash payment on table(no financing) upon day of delivery of car.His delivery date has been pushed to 11/08 from 7/08 -because GTR's can't be serviced in the midwest until the dealers get their techs certified and purchase special tools to service these vehicles only.I called 2 dealers in my area and was told there have been NO GTRs delivered to the midwest and all GTRs are on “hold” for delivery in the “near future” These automobiles are cruising the west coast as I talk, what price did those people pay, and why can't we get our orders??????

Answer:
Our dealership in Lincoln, Nebraska is selling them for $70k with a $5k deposit. I've heard of dealerships selling them for over $100k. Dealerships are only allowed to order 2 per year. We’ve 2 spoken for already but we had to update our alignment rack and hoists and have at least 1 GTR certified tech in our shop before they would send us the automobiles. It has been a major pain but will be cool when we get them in. Just got word last friday that our shop was given the go ahead to get the vehicles.

Answer:
I think it might be what you said earlier about getting the techs certifed and all the special tools, not all dealerships are going to certify their techs at the same time so people might have gotten them at a different dealership where there techs are certified already. There’s also the possiblilty of them getting it from the east coast and shipping it over. But he already put down so Im sure he'll be getting it at one time or another!

Answer:
The first model year of the Dodge Viper had the same situation. You weren’t going to get one at sticker price. Demand is higher than supply. Also as others have stated here, no dealer is going to want to import a car that they can’t do warranty fixes on. THey have to have at least one tech in the shop trained on that car and buy all the special tools needed.

Answer:

well first off….this car is bad ***….as far as the dealers.they’ve to spend 20-30 grand in the shop on techs and tools..dont think my dealership is doing that..the car is awesome and i wish we had the demand cause i want to see one of those vehicles on the streets of my town.

Answer:
vary simple supply and demand, plus the gtr is so popular and it is has just become available to purchase.
