95 nissan 200sx…cant find the starter to tap it.

Answer:
Thanks tronary. If everyone knew everything then there would be no need for this forum.

If you remove the air filter box it will really open up things and you can see/touch the starter.

Once the air box / tube is off stand facing the drivers side fender and look down where the engine meets the trans. There you’ll find the starter. Follow the positive battery cable, that will also led you to the starter.

Answer:
Tapping on the starter solenoid WILL sometimes get the vehicle started. I use this procedure almost daily so don't let that guy tell you that it won't work. Follow the directions on the other post to find the starter and tap on it lightly with a long solid object while someone else sits in the vehicle and turns the ignition. Works most of the time unless the starter is too far gone or it's not a starter problem at all.

Answer:
You don't need to tap your starter to start it. We have some real amateurs on this forum. If you’re having starting problems you need to first make sure battery has at least 13 volts with key off. Next, get a battery beush at auto supply. remove battery terminals and clean them and the battery posts till they shine. Should solve the problem.
