How do I replace a knock sensor on a 96 Nissan Maxima? What’s a reasonable price to pay to have someone work on this?
Thank you,

Answer:
the knock sensor is located under the intake manifold if you remove the air intake tube you can see it. a mechanic with a special 12mm universal socket on the end of a 12 inch quarter drive extension should be able to replace it without having to remove the intake.most shops will charge the removal of the intake according to labor time in Chilton's labor time book. which can be 3 to 5 hours. find a tech can do it at home and save yourself some money.special note.. the knock sensor will set a diagnostic trouble code but will never turn on your check engine light on so in reality you shouldn't replace it.
Answer:
Have to remove the intake manifold to replace it,but why?It only shows up in a scanner, never turn the check engine light on,or make the vehicle runs any different, nearly every OBDII Nissan V6 motor have this code, don't bother with it.Will set you back somewhere more than 400 bucks if you insist.
