All Italian cars from over a decade ago rusted badly..

The Italian government had a law making the manufacturers use cheap steel from Russia..

Since then, they use better quality materials, and are also better protected against rust..

However, the electrics and reliability are as bad as ever..

Along with most other manufacturers, Fiat had the dreaded tinworm licked years ago. I actually think Fiats now are among the most rust resistant cars on the road, even old Mk1 Puntos 10 years old are rarely seen with anything worse than neglected stone chip scabs on them, something that can't be said for Fords and Vauxhalls.
