I just bought a 1978 bmw, in near mint shape I got it for 600, dollars ha ha, it is in great shape no rust, great interior, blown motor, I was going to put a 400hp small block in it, but decided to put the dinky 95hp 2.0 m10 four cylinder in it, keeping it all origional, any estimate of value of car, in 50 years, the car has 90k kilometers on it.

I own a shop, and do a lot of restoration work also. It ought to be worth $50,000 lol…
Given the fact the cost of cars goes up every year, 50K might be a very "low" end number. My point is this; what was the cost of a new vehicle 50 yrs. ago? Not much when compared to today's prices. Since we have no control over inflation, we could only speculate what the price should be. A new vehicle 50 yrs. ago could have been $1,200 or less, so when this is compared to an average of $30,000 now days, the $50,000 seems to be a cheap price for a vehicle that will be 80 years old then. There is no formula to figure this out, and we may be traveling through the air like Star Track by then. Old cars may not be worth anything, and we may not even have fuel to run them with, or laws that allow the burning of fossil fuels by then. You can now see my point; it is just a gamble, and assumption we will even have a need for an old car then. Laying all of this aside; If the trend continues as it is now, it should be worth a big pile of money, but don't count on it.
Glad to help out, good Luck!!!
Answer:
In 50 years, it won't be worth much because there won't be any fuel to drive it with.
Answer:
Sorry, but it will not be $50,000. It should be $15,000.
90,000 miles are alot for a BMW. And it will be 50 years old in 10 years. If it had less than 50,000 miles, then it might cost over $50,000 in 50 years.
There are lots of 1978 BMW's. It was a mass produced car so there are many of them, which is what makes the price so low.

You might have to pay someone to take it in 50 years. Chances are cars will no longer be the way we think of them due to advances in technology.
