I need somebody's opinion. I'm buying my first ever vehicle. I have seen a ford fiesta ghia 1.3L and have fallen madly in love with it. But i have also seen a Volkswagon Polo and was told that I would be mad not to take it.

The problem is that I'm still a student and will be for another 2 years. I know that Fords are cheap and easy to run, cheap to service and parts are easy to get.

The only thing putting a doubt in my mind is that the Polo is cheaper in price but the downfall is that I know they're a bit more expensive to run. But I don't know how much it would cost me to run a Polo.

Can someone offer me any advice?

Answer:
search around on the iternet for a insurance quote find out how much petrol you can get in it and then how much parts would cost. i had to do this when i got my first vehicle and im a student and i manage fine but it helps to have a part tiem job.

Answer:
To be absolutely honest, you're going to be spending out on whichever automobile you get. It's only worth cosidering how much insurance, tax and petrol costs are going to be. When it comes to MOT you will never know, so I would just get the fiesta if it's less than £500, if not get the polo!

Answer:
The good thing about German make vehicles, Volks, Mercs etc is that the spares might last you more than 5 years which explains their high prices. As for maintenence, I’ll be honest and say that it is the same for all cars. Oil change and filters after each 5000 km. Go for the Polo. Stability, Speed, longlasting.

Answer:
I would go with the fiesta because that type of gasoline isn’t as costly as diesel is at this point in time

Answer:
The Polo, if it is a diesel it gets great gas millage and is good for the enviroment.

Answer:
how about a toyota corolla or a holden barina??

check them out

Answer:
I dont know what your budget is or what age the fiesta and polo are.

If either of them are anywhere near 10 years old then the major concern would be corrosion. This is particularly so with fiestas. They may well have a current mot but when the next mot is due you could find yourself with a hefty bill to get it through the mot.

Are these the only 2 automobiles you are considering?

My advice would be to take into account anything japanese. There are many cheap Nissan Micras or Toyota Corollas on the market and these are generally much more reliable and economical.
