405 mi16- Vs- golf mk 2 gti 16v?

Ok if you put a 405 mi16 up against a golf gti mk 2 16v which would you select to win on pull off and top end. Also what car in your view handles the ideal and which one would you most want and why? I’ve both and have my own conclusions but i am curious to what anybody else thinks also they are both 1989 models and the mi16 is of the 1.9 alloy block range not the le mans. Both cars are standard with no mods.
