Do exhaust tips make noise or are they just for show?

I want an exhaust that has a nice sound with out purchasing the whole stystem. So do the exhaust tips make a noise or are they for show?

On some vehicles, not many, just getting a new free flowing muffler may get you 1 or 2 hp. It will sound horrible though.

A true catback system (not $150 ebay crap) made for your vehicle will get you some power and sound nice.

“Exhaust tips”? Umm, some people put chrome finishers on the very end of the muffler to shine it up a bit. Are you speaking about a small 2″ dia ring? If so, no power there.

Tips are just show! Mufflers do some more noise! And the whole system will make a LOT of noise! I used to drive a vehicle with just a muffler it was a Mazda 3 and the noise was retumbant and it hurt after a while in long trips.

no you would have to purchase the hole system because then when you get the system you can get it loud or quiet and usually the ideal tips come with the louder ones

Exhaust System(the whole thing) will add at least 10HP and make loud noise.
