Why do most Americans hate 4 cylinder vehicles? My b/f has a WRX Impreza with turbo (2004) and people are always speaking about how their v-8 is so kick a$$ then when he races them he always wins?
Most people I have met hate 4 cylinders…why is this?

I'm not sure why they hate them but right now a lot of people are re-thinking this,because of high gas prices,,I'm like them,i have always owned one even when gas was really cheap i still drove a 4 cylinder most of the time,its just that most people think of a 4 cylinder as being real slow and that's not true now days ,some of the smaller engines will run off and leave the v-8s in their tracks,there's always going to be someone that’ll drive a v-8 automobile regardless of cost,i got an uncle that wont own nothing but av-8 even if gas hit ten bucks a gallon he still wouldn't drive one,its just the way people think,they are under the belief that all 4 cylinder vehicles are as slow as the older ones was,as we all know that's not true now days,good luck,

America is known for huge people, strong people, and Muscle vehicles and FootBall, which also has to do with huge people.
Americans think the bigger the superior. They have no understanding of power to weight ratio or aerodynamics.
They think larger engines make always make more power.
Some 4 cylinder non turbo vehicles are more powerful than some V8 automobiles.
I know 4 cylinder turbo cars can easily beat V8's because V8's are put in heavy, massive vehicles.
Lots of Americans don’t accept to believe it.

Lets forget about demographics, physics, general automotive information, and the thoughts for a bit. Lets have some fun instead. Lets hook a chain from my '66 Pontiac GTO (almost all stock, the 389 shelled so it now has a 428 from a '67 catalina w/ a three speed auto bolted to it) to your boyfriend's Subaru (I really like the Subarus' by the way. They’re great vehicles. I like many four cylinder autos including “imports”, although many are built here by AMERICANS. Have you driven a new Malibu yet? It has a four cylinder and is pretty sharp). Forgive my rambling. I do not race per se', but I do enjoy POWER and TORQUE, UGH UGH UGH! LOL. Lets see how far that Subaru (I am not putting any1, or any1's auto down) will pull my 40 yr old beast. There’s always more than one kind of power pissing contest. That Impreza might smoke my rust bucket in a 1/4 mile. My sled might rip that unibody in half. It is all relative. I once owned a V8, and have owned two V6 minivans, the last one traded in several years ago on a PT Cruiser Turbo that easily beat V8 Mustangs - and they were not happy about it.

The V-8 guys hate imports and anything that’s 4 cylinder, Kinda like automobile racsim. I happen to enjoy Honda's and Acura. I also like the Wrx's and Evo's.
