Give me any models that were affordable in the 70's but ran well and were sound investments.

I figure that I could afford one of these vehicles and please give me models on from the 70's.

Answer:
Ford Mustangs were nice reliable and didn't break the bank, Ford Pintos same situation except the Pintos came with transmissions that had to get replaced constantly, Chevy Novas are great looking cars weren't to pricey looked great and are muscle automobiles, Ford F-100, Chevy C-10 Many other cars in fact most automobiles were cheap back then but aren't now because they’re considered classics, a vehicle is considered antique once it's 20 years old, and if it is an antique then it's worth more money running or not and people try to get each dime and penny possible out of selling the automobile whether it runs, it's all there or anything.

Answer:
I find a grain of truth in redneckskater's answer. That is the Nova. Novas are economy vehicles, and that's all there’s to it. They WERE cheap. Peoople like the styling, so they are really popular with vehicle buffs, and valuable now. Other economy vehicles from the 70's do not hold up in this analysis.

A 70 Mustang is certainly a popular automobile, but all the other 1970's Mustangs are not very likeable. All the 1970's F-bodies (Firebird and Camaro) were very attractive, and are extremely poplular now, but they were really popular in the 70's. Optiond up the way everybody wants them, they weren't all that cheap.

Plymouth 'Cudas, as everybody knows, probably went up the most in value of any 1970's vehicles. They were just cheap junk, and if you have the right one, it's worth millions.

I am not sure, though, what the point of your question is. It doesn't help to spot a good investment 30 years later. Do you want a car that has already shot up in value? That doesnt really tell you if it's a good investment in the future or not.

Answer:
That is crazy. Just crazy…

Vehicles based on carburetor technology (non-fuel injected) automobiles are notoriously difficult to keep running.

There are many mid 90's cars that are in the $1K to $2K range that runs well. Keep shopping.

good Luck…
