Most have high mileage was looking into buying a preowned care because my cavalier has had it and needs to be scraped honestly. Just wanted some info!

Answer:
The only question you want to ask of the seller is “Has the intake manifold gasket been replaced?” if it has the 3.4L V6. That was a common problem with that motor, and although not catastrophic, it will cost a few hundred to get done if it needs it down the road. Beyond that, the vehicle is plenty reliable. The other thing to keep in mind is if the vehicle is nearing 100,000 miles, it will need that service done (plugs, wires etc). Also, get a CarFax report on any vehicle you’re considering buying so you know the history of the car.

I have a 2003 Grand AM GT with 135,000 miles on it. Laundry list of repairs are as follows:

- back door on the driver doesn't open

- loses coolant constantly (gasket worn out due to DEX COOL issue…I believe that this repair is covered in the USA, but has not been resolved in Canada yet)

- Original Brake Caliper seized

- Catalytic converter plugged

- blower motor resistor died

- Already starting to rust

I don't hear my friends with Hondas and Toyotas having so many issues with their automobiles.

Maybe my car should meet up with your cavalier at the scrapyard :)

I have an 02 grand am with a 3.4 V6 the only problem i had with it is the driver side window motor broke. it was preaty simple to replace, and i hade to replace the head gasket on it. but other than that great car. I bought it brand new it has about 140,000 miles on it still runs like brand new and has gerat pick up. i would buy another one without question.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE2. It has about 80K miles on it. Even though I've had my ups and downs with it but it's been pretty reliable. The transmission sucks but everything that's gone wrong with it has been fixable.

Answer:
yea but the problem is that u would be going from one piece of crap to another one with a more massive engine. not a good idea. go with a toyota or a honda if its time for a new vehicle. and to really answer your question… they suck.
