The smaller the wheels the lighter.

If you want 17 inch wheels, then 17ibs is a very light wheel.

If you want 15 inch, then 13ibs is light.

If you want 19 inch, then 20ibs is very light.

Go to tirerack.com to see over 150 wheels. You can see them on your automobile and see the weight.

Or go to websites for wheel manufacturers and look at their selection of racing wheels. All of their racing wheels will be light. These are some manufacturers: Enkei, Konig, Motegi Racing, Work, Racing Hart, RO_JA, Gram Lights, Axis, LowenHart, Lexani, Neuspeed, Sportec, and others.

Answer:
The lightest wheels you’ll find will generally be forged racing wheels (Jongblood, BBS, and such)… and for the sizes you'll likely be putting on a 993 (8×18″ or thereabouts), you'll find the weights somewhere in the 15 pound range.

Compared to the stock wheels, this is quite a bit lighter (and a good 5 pounds lighter than the hollow spoke turbo twists… which are quite light for a cast wheel, but just about on par with some of the better forged wheels for the street).

However, keep some things in mind. While a lighter wheel means less unspruing rotating mass, and can mean much better performance, it will come at a tradeoff. And for driving on the street, that’ll mean each pothole will most likely require wheel repair or replacement. This was the main problem with the Turbo Twists… forged wheels will more often be able to be repaired or have wheel halves replaced and such… but none of these wheels are really well suited for street use.

As such, any good, forged wheel (Champion, Kinesis, Fikse, BBS, etc) would be a solid choice for a 993. They’ll not be the lightest, but they will be lighter than stock. Pay attention to specific sizes and weight differnces, and likewise, pay attention to tire weights! You might be suprised to find out how much different tire constructions can wind up weighing.
