they both cost the same. me my sisters have pitched in enough money to buy a automobile. my sisters want the bimmer because they state its newer, superior looking, topless, and backseats actually work for ppl to sit in.

i state get the porsche carrera 4 soupe because im a guy(lol), its a fu.c.king PORSCHE and its all wheel drive woupe so its good for winter too, here in toronto our winters get brutal and automobiles get stuck.

my father states bimmer because he states he thinks the 911 looks like a mouse.

which one do u think and y?

which one of those cars are faster by the way?

if it was ur pick would u choose it with more logic ( i guess thats the bimmer) or more emotion( PoRsChE)?

thanks a lot

Some interesting thoughts here so far… and for the record, Porsche's AWD system is not designed for “racing” - just check how often it's been used by Porsche for that use compared to their RWD system. Though it is designed to be more usable in such circumstances than a traditional 50/50 split.

And, at stock ride heights, the BMW and Porsche should be just about the same.

But, on to the initial question… ultimately they’re two very different cars, and which is superior for you is going to be defined by those differences. The Porsche will be the faster of the two. I've driven E46 Coupes and 996 C4s at the track, and while the E46 is nice, it is well short of the 996 in total grip and braking.

Both are well built, reliable packages, that combine a good deal of real world usability with great performance. Neither car is absolutely practical if it's your only automobile, though in such circumstances, the BMW would have a bit of an edge.

For me, I'd go with the Porsche. I've owned models of both makes and while I like BMWs, I love Porsches… and I don't care for convertibles. So it's no contest. The fact that the Porsche is the more capable track vehicle would also figure in and even though a proper alignment can cure the E46 of it's terrible understeer, I’ve always held it against BMW that they sent a M series automobile into the world with this problem to start with.

That said though, if you want a convertible with the other plusses of an M3, it's going to be the superior vehicle. If you’re looking from a point of performance, then it's the Porsche.

Answer:
Buy the Porsche, It is faster and the BMW a girl automobile. I would save up your money and buy your sisters out in a year and have the car for yourself.

Answer:
Yeah, I would get the Porsche.

It has a much higher top speed.

More reliable too since the engine was made for racing.

The Porsche even gets better gas mileage.

The Porsche 911 also has back seats, but they’re too small.

Answer:
They both look like chick vehicles… especially the porsche because of those wheels! Yuck! Why don't you look into a Charger SRT-8? Those are kick-*** cars!

Answer:
I currently own a 996 Turbo and used to have a M3, both are wonderful vehicles and you really can't go wrong. But for you, I wouldn't consider buying either of these cars for two reasons. One: it makes totally no sense to combine two incomes to buy a automobile. It's a automobile, if you can't afford to own it, you're representing a wrong image. Two: you’ll be sharing a car with your sisters, you're not in high school anymore. Get yourself something that you can afford, then kick your father in the nuts for not stepping in and setting you straight.

Answer:
Im a big BMW fan bit and Im a Big Porsche fan u said the Porsche was all wheel drive but Porsche all-wheel-drive is nothing like regular all-wheel-drive it is meant for racing and sporty feel not for all weather and deffinately not for Toronto winters.

The BMW is a beautiful automobile but is a womens car it being a cabriolet(convertible) And honestly that rear-wheel-drive Bimmer will be superior in the snow than that Porsche because it is higher up and is meant for each day driving unlike the Porsche which is more like a weeekend vehicle. They are asking an awful lot of money for those cars also!
