I’ve a 1999 SAAB 9-5 and its a great automobile. From switching from winter to spring and now summer, the duel climate controls are set to low but the passenger side still spits out heat. Has anyone had this problem. I’m still in college(so I dont have a lot of money) and don't know anyone besides the dealership who works on SAABs. The guy that used to work on it went out of busness. Any suggestions?

In addition to what Sam N said, see if all vents are open including the rear ones. The ACC is designed to work with all vents open, check the floor vents as well under the front seats. Post on this board after you have checked. Do one more thing, press AUTO and OFF buttons together, the ACC will reset itself, if you get the reading “0″ all is okay with the flaps and the arms. Let us know after you have taken these steps.

I’ve emailed scanned duplicates of the TSB 8542578 to you which covers” ACC/MCP has difficulty controlling and maintaining the temperature on the passenger side. I hope this will be of help. You’ll need to go to a qualified SAAB A/C tech if you’re yourself not tech savvy.

I own a 2001 9-5 and had the same problem on the driver's side. The issue is your flap motor has gone bad. It seems to be an easy fix, however when I went to my saab dealer the part was on back order for a while.
Sadly, I’ve never taken my vehicle to anyone but the dealer, however if you find a shop that sepcializes in foreign luxury cars, you should be ok. I have done this in the past with my old BMW and it saved me a ton of money.

If it displayed 0 you shouldn't have any problems. It doesn't display 0 on the passenger side. The number on the driver side of the ACC is how many faults it found, and then if you’ve a fault that number will pop up on the passenger side. There is a known problem where if the rear vents are closed the front passenger side blows hot air. There is a service campaign to mend this problem by drilling holes in a particular spot on a flap somewhere in the A/C system to relieve the pressure and allow cool air to flow to the passenger vents. Make sure your rear vents are in the open position and it should blow cool air again. Good luck.
