I am considering buying a 1995 Saab 900s Convertible, with 155k miles. The car looks great inside and out, and the current owner states it is in good running condition. He is asking $1700 negotiable, so i figure I can get him down to $1500 no problem. I do not see myself spending more than $1500 on it, would this be worth it? I live in the city and I would only use it about 3-4 times per week, how many miles can this automobile last for? Or am I just bringing myself larger financial problems with fixes and upkeep on such an old vehicle.
thanks in advance for any ideas, views.
Answer:
That’s a good car and should last you another 100K. The only thing I would like to look at is the past record. Do purchase extended warranty/

I have had my Saab for 6 years and have had nothing but wonderful things to say about mine. Suprisingly they are rather cheap to keep up even going to the Saab dealership. Mine for an oil change is about $30 and everything else I have ever had done was right around what everyone else is going to charge me. I am a single mother of two children and if I have the ability to afford the luxury, you should be able to also. Mine is a 1995 with 250,000 miles on it now and still runs perfect. Only routine maintence and nothing else.

omg ive been asking the sameee exact question lol and ive been getting no answers , well at least no helpful answers. im in the same situation except im paying $2,200 for 1996 with 150,000 miles on it. im picking it up in a couple days i just hope its worth it. but if you can get it for $1500 that's sound like a def good deal. now i feel like im over paying lol.
Answer:
SAAB's are unreliable, expensive, over rated peices of European C R A P.
They’re incredibly pricey to mend, maintain and service.
They brake down regularly, and cost a motza to repair.
If you havent already signed the papers, EITHER OF YOU. DONT DO IT. YOU WILL REGRET THE DAY YOU BOUGHT A SAAB.

I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.hotusa.org
As I remember Saab Convertible is very costly to insure.
